Kinderballet™ 'Preppies'

Ages: 5 to 7 years

Duration: 45 minutes

End of year event: Presentation Day

*Fees: $18 per class (when paid termly)

The 'Preppies' classes are a bridge between the fun and highly creative Kinderballet™ preschool ballet classes and the more sophisticated Level classes for older children.

The class offers:

  • Dancing to music
  • Use of props (such as ribbons, wands, fabric, hoops)
  • Basic movement co-ordination of gross motor skills
  • Development of ballet steps appropriate to the particular age level
  • Contued improvement to concepts such as:
    • Group co-operation
    • Waiting ones turn
    • Following the leader
    • Working together as a group
    • Improvisation
    • Developing individual Expression
    • Performance preparation

While it is important to us to give the children a fun and positive experience, we also feel strongly about teaching them the basics of dance. This differentiates us from activities where the goal is predominantly to entertain or just amuse children, sometimes with completly different class content each week.

Keeping in mind the children are still quite young when they commence the year, the classes are themed for the first few terms.

In the latter part of the year the program changes in structure and begins to resemble a more traditional Classical Ballet class.

The children begin to prepare for the end of year Presentation class which involves a demonstration class, a free movement section, improvisation and two set group dances.

Class Structure

While there is a very strong theme and narrative which runs through the class, it is structured like a Classical ballet class for school-going children. Each class is made up of particular elements which make up the basics of all dance classes.

*Fees - Please note:

  • Premium Venues - Fees per class are displayed at the top of this section. Some venues we use are significantly more expensive, in which case we charge a small extra fee per class (usually 50cents per class).
  • Accident Insurance - $6 (per family per term) - covers the enrolled student (& Mum! in the case of Mummy and Me classes).
