Kinderballet is the best way for preschoolers to experience the joys of ballet in an energetic and fun class tailored to their abilities and levels of concentration.
In 2006, Kinderballet has turned the idea of the traditional, elite dance school on its head. Our programs teach classic ballet principles through structured and creative expression, with the classical ballet technique kept well hidden within the program.
Kinderballet classes are in line with current trends in preschool education that advocate learning through play and experience, unlike the traditional, formal ballet lessons of the past.
Igniting imaginations
Kinderballet classes are designed by Sheryn Zarins to ignite the children’s imagination with original music and lyrics created by Sheryn and renowned pianist Jenny Pickering. The unique term-based Kinderballet program is now taught in ballet studios around Australia.
Every aspect of the Kinderballet program has been carefully and expertly designed to give young children a unique and exciting experience with the world of ballet. Kinderballet helps preschool children experience the joys of dance and self-expression and enriches the child’s imagination and sense of self.
Revolutionary approach
Kinderballet classes breathe a breath of fresh air into ballet instruction for young children. The classes are affordable and accessible - there are no uniforms or expensive end-of-year concerts.
Children can choose to dress in traditional ballet costumes or any clothes that make them happy. Independence is encouraged at Kinderballet and the classes foster imagination & play while also encouraging social skills.
Classes are an opportunity for children to enjoy the company of other children while learning to share, respect others and listen. Individual attention engages each child and all children are prompted for their input to the class.
Our Creator
The Kinderballet programs have all been developed and continuously refined by Founding Director, Sheryn Zarins has been a teacher for over 33 years. She trained in South Africa at the University of Cape Town and taught at dance schools in Johannesburg and the United Kingdom before moving to Australia.
Miss Sheryn became a registered Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) teacher at the age of 20 and an examiner at the age of 32. Prior to forming Kinderballet with her husband Peter Zarins in 2006, Sheryn owned successful dance schools in Sydney and Melbourne.
All Kinderballet teachers around Australia are experienced ballet teachers, carefully selected and trained by Sheryn to teach the programs. They are retrained and reassessed by Sheryn on an regular basis.
Kinderballet only teaches ballet to preschoolers, it doesn’t offer other dance styles or teach other age groups. Sheryn and the Kinderballet teachers are completely focused on teaching preschoolers the joy of classical ballet principles in a fun, yet structured environment.
